We know not everyone can adopt right now, but sponsorship gives you a direct way to make a lasting difference.

Our network partners are making a difference every day – rescuing, rehabilitating, providing medical care, securing adoptions, and much more. But rescue work doesn’t stop at shelter gates. Every adoption needs transport coordination, international adoption paperwork, veterinary certificates, volunteer networks, and ongoing support to get an animal from rescue to home.

That’s where your sponsorship comes in. By supporting a partner through MGF, you’re funding both their immediate care work and the wider network that makes adoptions actually happen.

How it works:

Choose a partner from our network below – see their location, what they do, and the animals they support. Select your monthly amount (minimum 5) and you’ll receive monthly newsletters compiled by MGF with updates directly from your chosen partner, including adoptions, facility news, and the impact of your support.

When you sponsor one of our partner shelters or rescues, sixty percent of your contribution goes straight to them for daily care, medical treatments, and facility costs. The remaining forty percent funds MGF’s operational work – logistical and administration costs, partner funding support, emergency medical care, and much more.

Whether you sponsor monthly or make a one-time contribution, you’re helping animals move from rescue to safety to forever homes.

You can manage or cancel your sponsorship anytime from your account page. Donations may be eligible for tax benefits in Portugal.

Help Build The MGF Sanctuary!

We are the Maureen Gray Foundation and we are working to improve the lives of animals in a world desperately in need of a helping hand to change the treatment and attitude towards them and their well-being.

We are a young team of Portuguese & English animal lovers and go-getters. We have spent many years volunteering for multiple charity organisations both in Portugal and the UK. We see the same shortcoming everywhere; A lack of education and support for the communities that cause the issues. Resulting in a terrible cycle of rescue – rehome and rescue again.

We are hoping to make a massive impact on community education and also fighting to change the laws surrounding animal care by setting an example of the highest standards, and practising what we preach, creating a rescue centre built on the core foundations that we believe in and with work carried out only by volunteers with the same morals and determination to change the current problems we face today not just in Portugal, but around the world.

We are dreaming big, very big in fact, but we know we have to start local…

We are asking you to support us in raising funds for the purchasing of land and the construction of a facility that will rescue, rehome and care for 100’s of dogs a year.

This will help us get our plan off paper and into a physical reality and allow us to really start making an impact in a space that very much needs yours and our help.
