We also support “Development Partners” who are working toward these standards, though we don’t facilitate adoptions from them until they’ve reached our required level of care.
• Complete Transparency: We list all our Adoption Partners on our website and only feature animals from shelters we’ve personally evaluated and trust.
• Simplified Process: We handle all the complex logistics – from shelter communications to transport arrangements – allowing you to focus on preparing for your new companion.
• Thoughtful Matching: Our adoption team works diligently to ensure compatibility between you and your potential pet, considering both your needs and the animal’s personality and requirements.
• Comprehensive Health Checks: All animals undergo mandatory medical evaluations that comply with EU regulations before joining their new families.

Adoption Fees Explained

Our adoption costs consist of two components:

• A standard Adoption Service Fee of €75 covering administrative costs and ongoing adoption support
• A variable Animal Transfer Fee that reflects the specific costs associated with each animal’s medical care, transport, and documentation

The Animal Transfer Fee varies depending on factors such as location, medical needs, and transport requirements. This transparent fee structure ensures all costs are covered while supporting our continued rescue work.

Throughout the adoption process, our team is available to answer any questions about our fees or procedures, making your journey to pet parenthood as clear and straightforward as possible.

Our Steps for Adoption

Every adoption through MGF follows a comprehensive 4-step process, which is tailored to each adoption based on the location and circumstances of both the adopter and animal.

These steps are designed to protect the welfare of our animals and ensure they find compatible, loving homes where they can thrive. Careful placement is essential, as transitions to new environments can significantly impact an animal’s mental and physical wellbeing.

Step 1: Initial Application

• Complete our adoption application form with your basic information, home environment details, and preferences. You can indicate a specific animal you’re interested in adopting, or we can help find a suitable match.
• Our team will review your application to ensure we can potentially meet your needs and that you meet our basic adoption requirements.
• This initial screening helps us understand your lifestyle and what type of animal companion might be the best match for your situation.

Step 2: Follow-up Interview and Matching

• Once your application is approved, we’ll contact you for a more detailed conversation about your expectations, experience, and specific needs.
• If you’ve already selected a specific animal, we’ll discuss their personality and needs to confirm compatibility. If not, we’ll suggest potential matches based on your preferences and lifestyle.
• During this stage, we’ll share all available information about any animals under consideration, including their known history, observed personality traits, and any special needs that have been identified.

Step 3: Home Check and Final Approval

• Once you’ve chosen a specific animal and confirmed you wish to proceed, a representative from MGF will arrange a home visit to ensure your living environment is suitable for that animal.
• This visit helps us confirm safety aspects and make final recommendations about the animal’s integration into your home.
• Following a successful home check, you’ll be asked to review and sign our Adoption Agreement and pay the adoption fees before proceeding to the final stage.
• The adoption fees consist of:
  • A fixed Adoption Service Fee of €75 which covers administrative costs and adoption support
  • An Animal Transfer Fee that varies by animal to cover their specific medical, transport, and documentation costs
• All fees directly support our rescue work and ensure the ongoing welfare of the animals in our care.

Step 4: Adoption Completion and Follow-up Support

• Once the agreement is signed and payment received, we’ll arrange all necessary medical checks, transportation, and documentation required for the adoption.
• When the animal arrives at your home, our support continues with regular check-ins:
  • Initial check-in within 48 hours of adoption
  • Follow-up check by the end of the first month
  • Final check within six months of adoption
• During these check-ins, we’ll provide guidance, answer questions, and ensure both you and your new companion are adjusting well.
• MGF will handle all administrative aspects, including updating microchip registration and finalizing ownership records.
• While our formal follow-up process concludes after six months, our support remains available whenever you need it throughout your pet’s life.
